Terms of service

1. Overview

This online store at meliette.com (the "Store") is operated by Meliette, Business ID 2453313-5, Finland ("Meliette", "we", "us"). The Store is powered by Shopify.

These Terms of Service, together with our Return & Refund Policy, Shipping Policy and Privacy Policy, apply when you browse the Store or place an order. By placing an order you accept these Terms. Nothing in these Terms limits the rights consumers have under mandatory Finnish or EU consumer protection law.

The Store serves both consumers and approved wholesale customers. Wholesale purchases are additionally governed by section 8 (Wholesale Terms).

2. Products

Our cards are printed on FSC-certified uncoated paper from hand-painted original illustrations. We aim to represent products accurately, but colors may render differently depending on your screen. Product descriptions and the product range may change without notice.

3. Orders

When you place an order, we confirm it by email. We reserve the right to decline an order — for example due to stock availability or a clear pricing error — in which case we will notify you and refund any payment without delay. If you notice a mistake in your order, contact us at hello@meliette.com as soon as possible and we will do our best to correct it before dispatch.

4. Prices and payment

Consumer prices are shown in euros and include Finnish VAT (25.5%). Wholesale prices are shown to logged-in wholesale customers exclusive of VAT. Shipping costs are shown at checkout before you confirm your order. Prices may change without notice; the price charged is the price in effect when the order is placed, as stated in your order confirmation.

5. Shipping and delivery

Shipping options, costs and estimated delivery times are described in our Shipping Policy. Delivery times are estimates. If your order is significantly delayed, contact us and we will look into it with the carrier.

6. Returns and defects

Consumers have a 14-day right of withdrawal and statutory rights regarding defective goods, as described in our Return & Refund Policy. For wholesale orders, see section 8.

7. Intellectual property

All illustrations, product designs, texts and images in the Store are the property of Meliette and are protected by copyright. Purchasing our products does not grant any right to reproduce the artwork. Retailers may use our product images and materials for the purpose of marketing and selling Meliette products.

8. Wholesale Terms

Wholesale purchasing is available to approved retailers through a wholesale account. By placing a wholesale order you confirm you are buying for business purposes; consumer protection rules, including the 14-day right of withdrawal, do not apply to wholesale orders.

  • Minimum order value: 100 €. Minimum quantity: 6 units per design.
  • Wholesale prices are exclusive of VAT. Finnish VAT is added for Finnish customers. For EU customers with a valid VAT number, VAT is charged at 0% under the reverse charge mechanism (Article 194, VAT Directive); we verify VAT numbers through VIES before shipping.
  • Payment term: Card or online payment at checkout. Invoicing (net 14 days) available on request for established stockists.
  • Orders are dispatched within 1-3 business days from stock, at the shipping rates in our Shipping Policy.

Inspection and defects

Please inspect your order on arrival. Report any visible damage, defects or discrepancies in the quantity delivered within 14 days of receipt at hello@meliette.com; a photo helps us resolve it quickly. A defect that could not reasonably have been discovered on inspection can be reported within a reasonable time of you discovering it, and no later than 12 months from delivery. We will put right anything that is our fault by replacement or credit, and we pay the shipping in those cases.

9. Relationship with Shopify

Meliette is powered by Shopify, which enables us to provide the Services to you. However, any sales and purchases you make in our Store are made directly with Meliette. By using the Services, you acknowledge and agree that Shopify is not responsible for any aspect of any sales between you and Meliette, including any injury, damage, or loss resulting from purchased products and services. You hereby expressly release Shopify and its affiliates from all claims, damages, and liabilities arising from or related to your purchases and transactions with Meliette.

10. Privacy

Personal information collected through the Store is processed as described in our Privacy Policy. Because the Store is hosted by Shopify, Shopify also processes information about your use of the Store as described in Shopify's privacy policy.

11. Liability

To the extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect or consequential losses arising from the use of the Store or our products. This limitation does not apply to liability under mandatory consumer protection law, or to damage caused intentionally or by gross negligence.

12. Governing law and disputes

These Terms are governed by the laws of Finland.

If you are a consumer and we cannot resolve a disagreement together, you can contact the Finnish Consumer Advisory Services (kuluttajaneuvonta, kkv.fi) and ultimately refer the matter to the Consumer Disputes Board (kuluttajariitalautakunta, kuluttajariita.fi). Consumers residing in other EU countries may also contact the European Consumer Centre in their own country. Consumers always retain the right to bring proceedings in the courts of their country of residence.

Disputes arising from wholesale orders are resolved in the District Court of Helsinki (Helsingin käräjäoikeus), Finland.

13. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. The version published in the Store at the time of your order applies to that order.
